Our friends at The Pipe and Glass Inn at South Dalton, near Beverley, are celebrating yet another major accolade – Yorkshire Dining Pub of the Year 2014, awarded by the prestigious Good Pub Guide.
This award follows another major accolade last month, when the Pipe and Glass won the Pub and Bar Award in the Cateys, the ‘Oscars’ of the restaurant industry.
Chef James Mackenzie said: “We’ve always wanted the Pipe and Glass to be a great local pub that also serves fantastic food. This award means that we’re achieving both aims.”
The Good Pub Guide is a national institution - a bible for pub-goers. "We have thousands of loyal readers who report to us all the time,” says Fiona Stapley, joint editor of the Guide. “They keep us in tune with how a pub is doing and we take their comments into serious consideration when choosing an award-winning pub”.
James Mackenzie’s cookbook, On the Menu, was named Best First UK Cookbook in this year’s international Gourmand World Cookbook Awards, held at the Paris Cookbook Fair.
On The Menu is an autobiographical cookbook with an inspirational collection of over 70 recipes from one of the UK's brightest chefs, with a foreword by the BBC’s Nigel Barden and photography by Jason Lowe.
